David McCarthy

David McCarthy is a well-regarded expert in urban water management, having published more than 80 journal papers on the topic which have gained more than 1000 citations leading to a h-index of 21.

McCarthy is the treasurer and an elected member of the highly prestigious Joint Committee on Urban Drainage, which falls under the IWA/IAHR banner. He is currently the chair of the International Working Group on Data and Models (IWA) and is the chair of the successful bid to host the International Conference on Urban Drainage in Melbourne in 2020 (the best regarded conference in his field).

He has visited his colleagues at INSA and Vet Agro Sup universities in Lyon on many occasions, with his last visit being a paid visiting scholar with Professor Benoit Cournoyer working on environmental microbiology. David has hosted a number of successful students from France (4).
